Have you ever wondered what's so special about milk, that it is lauded in scripture as one of the treasures in the promised land, "a land flowing with milk and honey?" Once you take a sip of raw, whole milk it will make sense. The flavor is rich, silky, and sweet, and addictively satisfying and refreshing. In our opinion, you can hardly resist the urge to chug a glass; you can't just take a sip. But it's not just the flavor, the nutrients are richer in fresh milk as well. In milk straight from the cow, abundant nutrients such as A, D, E and K2; vitamin C; all the B vitamins, and minerals like calcium, phosphorus and zinc as well as essential trace minerals are found especially in the cream, which is not the case with skimmed, homogenized, pasteurized milk bought at the store. Naturally raised, happy cows just produce better milk.

Local

Local means you know what you're getting, and who you're getting it from. For most of human history, milk was sourced locally - which meant it was always fresh - because nearly everyone milked their own cows. If you weren't getting milk from your own cow, you could surely find a neighbor to buy or barter from. While this is not possible for many people today, we hope that by purchasing a herdshare from us it will bring us one step closer to the days of fresh milk for every family  and further away from the "factory farms" that dominate the market today. Local also means supporting the livelihood of families who have chosen the vocation of farming and dedicated time, blood, sweat, tears, and capital in good animal husbandry practices and producing healthy, delicious wares.
